ARTEMIS is a European University Alliance bringing together eight universities from France, Germany, Belgium, Greece, Italy, Norway, Romania and Estonia. The University of Perugia is one of its partners. The universities work together to develop new forms of cooperation in education, research and innovation, connecting their academic communities with the regions in which they operate.
Our mission
ARTEMIS aims to connect knowledge, people and resources across the eight universities, enabling European cooperation to address shared challenges and create new opportunities for study, research and joint work. The Alliance builds on the expertise and needs of its different regions, using collaboration between universities to develop perspectives that each institution would find difficult to pursue alone.
A central theme is mobility, understood in a broad sense. It includes exchanges among students, researchers and university staff, as well as the movement of people and goods, access to services and the changes affecting local communities. ARTEMIS brings different disciplines into dialogue around these issues, with particular attention to technology and transport, health and the environment, migration and human rights.
The Alliance develops educational programmes, research collaborations and innovation initiatives. It also involves institutions, businesses, associations and other regional stakeholders. Through its Living Labs, dialogue with people who experience or directly address local issues helps guide the universities’ joint work. In this way, ARTEMIS seeks to build a European university space in which cooperation between institutions remains closely connected to regional contexts.
