The University of Ioannina, known as UoI, is a public comprehensive university located in Epirus, in north-western Greece. Its origins date back to 1964, and its activities combine education and research with strong regional ties and a European and international outlook.
Its academic fields include natural sciences, medicine and life sciences, engineering, computer science, new materials, economics and environmental studies, alongside arts, philosophy, psychology, history, archaeology, literature, linguistics and education. The university promotes student and staff mobility and international cooperation, with a focus on non-discrimination and the participation of disadvantaged and underrepresented groups.
Within ARTEMIS, UoI contributes this experience in research, education and international cooperation. Its roots in Epirus and connections with the Balkans support the Alliance’s regional and European dimension.
